Latest Inshore Fishing Report Near San Diego
Today we had some very young kids aboard, so we decided to stay close to land and focus on some smaller fish for the kids. We were only about a mile off the beach fishing in La Jolla, San Diego, California. What a beautiful view of San Diego from the outside on our inshore coastal charters. We were fortunate enough to have beautiful weather with a storm rolling in the next day.

We focused on bottom Fishing only to keep the young men interested with a rod in their hand or in the Rod holder at all times with their baits in the water. Basically, we dropped our lines with our baits all the way to the bottom, Which in today’s case was about 80 to 100 feet of water, And wait for the bite, as we drift. Often, if the current is rushing, we drop anchor on some of our favorite spots.
Typically, inshore shallow bottom fishing is very productive for anything from calico bass sand, bass rock, fish halibut, lingcod white fish, sheep, head, shark, sculpin, and sometimes even shallow water yellowtail. Usually, it’s nonstop action on multiple species, keeping the crew and kids in this case excited. This trip was all catch and release.
What an epic trip. Elliot a long time friend and Client, who has been fishing with us for years, decided to bring his 4 year old son out this time, who had an absolute blast catching fish nonstop. He was scared to hold them at first, but we talked to him into it and man did he love it. Take your kids fishing and they will be hooked for life.
